Occasional office databases

Database files to help parishes with the administration attached to Occasional Offices have been prepared for four different database programs.

The intention is that the system is available to anyone who wishes to use it, regardless of which programs they may already have or not have on their computers.

To that end, database files have been prepared for the commercial programs Microsoft Access 2003, Microsoft Access 2007, Lotus Smartsuite (Approach), and the open source (ie free to download and install) OpenOffice. There is also the option of using the 'Access Viewer' from Microsoft which gives free but limited functionality with Access datafiles.

For more information and thoughts on which program to use, read this.

For an idea of how they may be of use click on the video files below:

Baptisms

Funerals

Note: the quality of the videos is not very high, in order that file sizes be kept relatively small. You can improve the playback by reducing the size of your browswer window. All videos are taken with Access 2007 -
the procedures with other database applications will differ.

The files, in zipped format, can be download from this page. Tutorials are included.

If you intend to use the OpenOffice version, you need to download and install the Sun Report Builder extension before you use the database.
